Credit cards?

Okay, so I'm posting again since I can't find my topic of where I got my answers last. 
My credit isn't worth anything. And I've been suggested to set up a secured credit card, and make small payments to build my credit. I have one selected, however do I get to decide how much I put down, or does the credit card company do that for me? How long will it take for my credit to increase after I've made a couple payments? This is for a $200 credit line. Nothing too big. 
Any tips so I don't go over my 30% credit usage or whatever that is called?

They decide your limit you dont put any down you just pay the bills which you decide the amount you pay each bill every card is different as to when the limit goes up but it takes a little while of having a card for it to help your credit score

Get the capital one secured card! They raised my credit line $300 in 6 months. I also have the Wells Fargo secured card and that one isn't as great, still haven't raised my limit.

I believe secure card usually have a down payment fairly close to the limit since most people who go for secure cards aren't going to be approved for very much. I will take time to help your credit. It also depends on why you're credit is where it is now. Is it lack of credit or poor choices? (Don't worry. No judgment either way). If it's due to lack of credit you could see an increase quickly because it's your only credit. If it's due to poor choices, it would depend on those poor choice and how big they were.

I dont have very many answers for you BUT unfortunately, getting your credit score up takes time. It will increase slowly so you have to keep working on it. Make sure you check your credit report and take a look at what is affecting it negatively. If you have collections, make sure you get those squared away. That is one quicker way to increase your score. Once you have a secured credit card or a bank credit card (like Chase or B of A) then it will become easier for you to get credit elsewhere.

I started my credit when I was 18. I had a bank acct and was able to get a bank credit card with a limit of $300 or $500 I think. Once I had that I was able to open new credit lines at stores. At 21, I was able to buy a brand new car. Again, it takes time. Fast forward and its taken me about 2 years to get my score up after it took a nose dive due to medical reasons/bills. I made a budget for awhole year and stuck to it. I paid off my collections and paid off all my credit card debt. So hang in there, it is not impossible but you have to give it time.

A secured credit card is when you put money on it and then can only spend that amount. The card company typically decides how much you can put on the card.

You don't put anything down they desire what your limmett is and you just pay the bill the min payment will depend I  how much you have spent .the limmett will increase when they feel they should or you can  call and ask for an increase
