How old was your baby when you took his pacifier away?

My son is about to turn 6 months and I've heard some people start taking it away at that age.. my brother is about to turn 4 years and he still has his😐 any suggestions?

Ooo just a fun idea if you wait. My brother could not get my niece to get rid of her pacifier. She was almost three and still refusing to give up the last one so they went to build-a-bear and had her put it inside a bear so she'd always have it close and she never asked for it again.

My daughter gave them up on her own around 2 months, but then discovered sucking on her fingers was a lot more fun.  🤣.

I've heard anywhere from 1-2 years. A few of my friends said it was easier to take them away around the time that they were getting rid of bottles (after 1 year) because baby is a bit more understanding/reasonable, but also because they're getting new things like sippy cups, so it's easier to explain the switch rather than just mysteriously taking Something away one day.

I also read that if baby isn't too keen on getting rid of the pacifier you can poke a hole in the nipple with a needle, then it's not as fun to suck on, and they'll probably get bored and give them up on their own 😂

My son hates pacifiers and refuses them, but I've heard 1 year is a good time to take away. My brother and I had them taken away at a little over a year. My sister was around 2 but she ended up having serious jaw issues because of it
