Starting Birth Control

Hi everyone, I am currently 16 and am wondering whether or not now would be the right time to go on birth control. I am not sexually active and don't plan on being so for a little while. I struggle a little bit with acne and my mum's doctor recommended it for me because of all the issues my mum has had and still has (endometriosis etc). I just don't know if now is too early and whether it will muck everything up once I go off it. Thanks!
