Why does it go by ur last month's period ?

So by my last month's period 8m 6 weeks 4 days..  but technically I should only be 4 and 4 days .. why do they factor those 2 extra weeks.. i wasn't pregnant on the first day of my last period .. help me understand

I think it's cos it gives them something to work from. Not everyone tracks ovulation so it would be impossible otherwise. I think it's also to confuse everyone who has gone through life believing that pregnancy is 9 months and not 10! Lol xx

Because there's no way to tell the exact day you ovulated or when conception happened. It's a gaurenteed date to go by.

That's just the way they always measure gestational age.... 40 week pregnancy includes the two weeks prior to conception when your body is getting ready for it!

It's easier to go by that then to track down the EXACT day every women got pregnant... Most women don't know the exact time anyways..
