irregular bleeding

I'm not usually one to write one this type of thing but I'm at a loss. My cycle is due in 5 days but for the past couple of mornings when I first use the restroom, when I wipe there is bright red blood and eventually turns to a brown discharge. I don't have any cramping or feel as though it's just an early period. Im not on any form of birth control but my husband uses condoms religiously. Does this sound like inplantation bleeding or an early miscarriage? I know only time will tell but some words of wisdom may help calm my nerves!
