High blood pressure? Help?

Question

Anyone that has had or has high blood pressure with pregnancy I went to the local pharmacy and used a blood pressure machine and mine was 135/65. Should I be worried I'm only like 5 weeks. Is it something I should go to the emergency department for?

Its giving me a miserable headache and swollen hands.

The machines in stores are worthless indicators of real blood pressure. Either get a real cuff for at home or see a doctor. The blood pressure that machine gave you is normal and doctors aren't concerned unless bp is over 140/90 and even then it's not that bad. I have normal bp without medication in the 150s over 110s. With my bp medication I have bps in the 120s over 70s which is normal. I've had high bp for a long time reaching the 170s over 120s. You have nothing to worry about.

Blood pressure varies. Mine read 137/60 at one doctor appointment and then it was fine again at my next reading 117/70 and has been since. My doctor wasn't even concerned about my high blood pressure the one time because it wasn't in a range where they would be concerned and the bottom number is the important one anyway. Simply eating something with too much sodium before taking your blood pressure could have caused it. You'll be ok.

I had high blood pressure with my first.  My bp was at 130/117 when u was 40w1d so my doctor induced me. Haven't had any problems yet with this pregnancy & I'm currently 28w5d.  Hopefully I don't have to deal with it again! Good luck!!
