my daughter dating?

My 13 year old daughter is dating someone on her shooting team. He is 16. (Turned 16 this year and my daughter will turn 14 in september). I'm trying to tell her that you don't date team mates or people you "work" with but she won't listen. What would you do as a parent? Knowing that your 13 year old daughter is dating someone 2.5 years older than her and they are on the same shooting team.
I'm dissapointed in her, he is way to dorky for her and not her type. He's smart in all ap (college) classes and she's barely in advanced. I don't get it
Edit - she won't have sex with him so what rumors would be spread? She's not that type of person I KNOW that for a face

You can either be super strict about it and she will be angry with you and just find ways behind your back to do it anyways or you trust her educate her and monitor her. To say he's not her "type" is a little off putting she's 13 she shouldn't even have a type yet and so what if he's taking college courses in high school and is "dorky" that just shows he's driven to be successful you should judge someone based on those facts.

Dorky? I was in all AP and Honors classes. And you know what? I ended up with a full ride scholarship to college. Maybe he could be a good influence on her. Why judge a kid in high school? Maybe she likes him for his personality. Yes it's not good to be with someone in the same work/team but she's young. She'll shrug off what you say and not listen. Either way, she'll do what she'll want to do either behind your back or in front. You just have to be supportive and understanding. My mother is not supportive of me dating and you know what? I do it behind her back and get support from my 36 year old cousin and godmother who are understanding.

I think you should be open to it and monitor closely. My parents were super strict and didn't want me dating so I ended up sneaking to go be with the person.

Tell her if things don't work out it can make for a hostile environment. He can make your life hell. Spread rumors or embarrass you. And make you not want to be there. Or quit the team. With girls that age the more you say no the more they want to prove you wrong. That he's not like everyone else etc. He hormones and emotions. God help you with a 13 year old in this day and age.

I remember being that young and 13 is when i lost my virginity. No matter what you do she will find a way to do what she wants because kids think that they know best. I would just be very honest with her and make sure you talk to her about safe sex and show her pictures of the different diseases you can get. I hope this helps.good luck to you.

I'm sorry, I know you're just worried and I would but too but how dare you say hes not her type because hes dorky and all that? You can't choose your daughters type and who she goes for. As a mother, you should always try and be incredibly suppirtive. Just keep an eye and monitor them.

Monitor them ! Dont be too strict it will only want her to date him more. She is at the age she is  trying to figure herself out and also dealing with liking boys. Also why does it matter if he is dorky and how do you know he isnt her type.? Through my years i liked a range of boys they all were different.
