Helicopter Parenting?

Question

Are you a helicopter parent or would you be? 
a) I think i am 
b) Others have told me I am
c) I'm not 
d) never thought about it?

I have realized that I am not as protective as other parents on here. For example all the post saying would you let your child wear this or dare this person I would say i don't care as long as their safe ect.

I am but that because my daughter is 12 months old I have to be a helicopter mom or she would be eating dirt and in the street! I think helicopter mom is a term used for children who are more self efficient.

As of now, I don't think I will be very strict with my kids. The only thing I'm huge on is safety. But my son isn't born yet so I can't really say until I actually experience parenting.

I am def not! I'm a nurse so I think that's why. Kids fall, they get hurt, they're curious. If you're not bleeding, I'm not worried. Now with that being said. My daughter isn't here but I have 3 step daughters so maybe I'll be a bit different with her. My parents didn't hover and freak out every time I got hurt. It's a part of life. I want my kids to test boundaries (safely of course) and learn from their mistakes.

Well I am very anxious when it comes to my son's safety. He was walking along the pool and I freaked! My boyfriend was on the other side of the pool, still watching him, but that isn't good enough for me. I realize I probably am a little bit because he's still so little and I get worries. As he grows up and becomes more independent, perhaps I won't be so protective. I think it's kind of hard to say though until you're in the exact situation, you know? Like it's easy for me to say "yeah I'll let my son do this or that when he's older" but until it's that time and it's actually happening, I'm not sure what I will do or prefer.

I think I am, both with my child and my pets. 200% I know I am.
I'm just a worrier so I try and control every situation. My daughter is also only 7 months old

I think it's easy to say you don't care when you aren't actually a parent yet. I think my upbringing will influence how I parent a lot. I plan to educate my son a lot about drug use because I have been heavily involved with drug addiction and can explain how awful it can be. But I generally want him to be happy. I want him to feel comfortable speaking to me, but in the end, if he wants to do something I think is dangerous, I won't allow it. It just depends though. I'll be more protective in regards to certain things, but more lenient with others.
