Weird cycle - need advice

For the last few months, my cycle has been longer and is now on average 38 days, which the doctor said is irregular but not something to worry about. This month, I had my period for 8 days, ending on March 2. My husband and I had sex on the 5th and I started spotting a day later. It is now the 8th and my flow is now heavy, having gradually increased since the 5th. Is this another period or just a result of intercourse? Should I be worried and call my doctor? We are ttc and I don't know if this is throwing off my ovulation cycle even more.
