tactful way to ask for no clothes at shower?

My mom and aunt have bought literally 80 outfits for baby. I don't want to seem rude or ungrateful but how could I tactfully ask for no clothes on shower invitation?

"If you bring clothes as gifts, you will not be granted entrance"     😂😂. Kidding.  Simply say that "baby has already been blessed with a wardrobe larger than his/her nursery can fit! No clothes please and thank you, as I wouldn't want him/her to grow out of them before he/she even gets the chance to wear them."

Don't put clothes on your registry BUT people love buying clothes. You will get clothes. You can return/exchange for items you actually need after the shower.

It's hard. Asking people not to give you certain things can make some people really upset. You could try making a cute poem? That might soften the blow, or just have your hosts tell people but don't put it on your invites.
Baby baby, is so blessed
Already gifted so many clothes
In which to be dressed

We are so excited just to celebrate with you
But know you might like
To buy baby something too

If you do, do not fret
Blankets, swaddles, diapers and wipes
Baby does not have yet

But remember that the shower
Is about celebrating together
Not about a stack of presents in a tower

There isn't a tactful way. Let people give you what they want. Most people give gift receipts anyways so just exchange them

We just returned as much as we could and got gift cards. And a tip, target will accept anything that they sell even tho it wasn't purchased from them. So as long as they sell the item u can return it with them.

I got so many clothes and none of them were on the registry. I think people just tend to pick out what they think is cute and are excited for. See if you can exchange or return but I think people will just end up buying what they want in the end.
