How long with just clomid?

I'm a lurker poking my head out for the first time...

I am 32, my husband and I have been TTC for 13 months. This would be each of our second child (his son was an oops early in his military career, mine was planned and took me 3 cycles to conceive) and by 6 months I was concerned. At around the 10 month mark I discussed with my primary care provider's PA that due to circumstances surrounding potential deployments, I really wanted to do some quick labs just to make sure I wasn't fighting an uphill battle on a finite timetable. They were initially resistant but did order my labs which showed a very low (post menopausal) progesterone level, but otherwise fairly OK results. They assured me everything was fine but that they were going to go ahead and refer me to Obgyn (I'd been using a family practitioner for everything).

Months later, we've done the blood and the semen analysis and ultrasounds and CT scans. My obg cannot find any physical reason why I'm not conceiving, but did discover that while I do cycle, it doesn't look like I actually ovulate on my own. My initial day 21 progesterone levels were 8.55 so we added clomid. At 50mg, my day 21 level has jumped to 47.5, we are using opk and having sex at more regimented (BORING) intervals, and 3 cycles of nada.

So I plan to ask the question at my next appointment, but in the meantime wanted to poll the audience... At what point is it time to move on from just clomid? And where do we go from here. The nearest RE is hours away, and I dread the thought of having to start over AGAIN. But we're only going to get so lucky before the hard deployment orders come in and we run out of time. 😔
