The thing is, there's a particular stigma associated with black people that white people don't have to content with. In the great scheme of things, we as black are innately seen as threats, regardless if we have weapons or not.

I like this story too. She's right.

Darrien Hunt died after police received a call about a black man with a sword. She can traipse around with it. This art student can't even have a glue gun.

I got an alert about an armed person on our campus (Christopher Newport University) once. Turns out it was just an EMPLOYEE with a tool or piece of something they were repairing. 😒
Need to mention CNU is a primarily white campus with a majority of the staff being PoC.

Here is how I see it...If the police get notified AT ALL that someone is carrying a gun at school, they HAVE to come. It just so happened that ONE ignorant person thought a glue gun was a real gun. Thats not a systematic school issue, that's the result of ignorance and a phone call. I also highly doubt that the FBI, Swat team, and whoever else came. Most definitely not the FBI. Lmao. I'm sure the police and POSSIBLY SWAT came out just due to policy. Not because they think it's super serious because he's black. As far as the girl carrying the sword...A sword and a gun are SO different. So different. Now if she had her leg hiked up on the desk holding a pistol or fake gun, that would be different. If I saw someone OF ANY RACE  holding a sword, I'd assume it was for school purposes of some sort. Like a reenactment or project. Or maybe a prop. If I saw someone of ANY RACE holding what I thought was a gun, I'd be alarmed. I agree that racism is an issue. Completely and 10000%. But in this particular case, I don't see it as racism nor do I see the sword and gun threat as something to be compared.

It makes me sad that blacks are automatically seen as a threat. But it also makes me sad that every white person is assumed privileged and racist. It's 2017 for God sakes. The country wants us divided so we don't stand together. And guess what. People are letting it happen. We all bleed red. Yes criminals exist. But they exist in all skin colors. Yes racism exists but it also exists in all skin colors. Let's stop pointing out one color to another. It seems like we're trying to go back in history. Not forward
