Baby shower stress
Hi everyone! My mom has been going through a lot of difficult life events lately. Also on Friday, her dog of 15 years passed away. Needless to say, we haven't discussed my baby shower at all like location, costs, invite list, etc. My DH and I were going to offer to split the costs & we wanted to keep it low key and small 😊. My family is super excited for the baby.
My MIL called my mom on Friday, knowing the family dog just died, to talk about the baby shower (I'm only 14 weeks pregnant!). My mom was caught off guard. My MIL said "I have my guest list ready, there's 32 people on it for my side. We can get coffee one day and go look at places together. It's way too big to have at my house." She never once offered to help cover costs during the conversation. I also think 32 people on her side alone is excessive! I don't even know some of her friends that are on the invite list. I was hoping to keep it at 30-35 people total (& even that's a lot of people.) I'ts nice she's excited for the shower but I'm super angry that she called my mom on Friday, was pushy, & created an invite list already! Shouldn't the invite list include close family and my best friends? Not her friends... It looks like there might need to be 2 showers if she wants those people & she would have to cover the costs right?
