Ttc irregular periods

Irregular periods since stopping birth control. Hard to track ovulation even with ovulation tests I don't think it's accurate. Period in September, December and January. On cycle day 41. How long did you wait before seeking medical intervention? Doc days if nothing by July she will run some tests. Getting impatient and frustrated. Anyone have similar experience?
