How are bumpers a hazard? I'm just curious because I put my LO in the crib to see how she liked it and within 5 minutes her legs were already sticking through the frame....

If her face were to press up against it, it is a suffocation hazard. Just like having anything else in the crib. There should only be a fitted sheet. No blankets, no toys, nothing.

If baby rolls and face ends up in the bumper she could asphyxiate. My ped said once baby had good head control and could roll I could use mesh bumpers with no issues. Shes always been a belly sleeper too (with no issues) and we cosleep, so I'm not a rule follower. Just saying what ped said 🙃

When we breath out co2 is realeased and it is trapped in the crib bc of the bumpers. The baby can suffocate from this. Also if you breath into there face while they are so young can take their breath away.

They are illegal where I live. Now they are mesh and just for decoration
