Are prenatal vitamins necessary?

So, after four years, I've finally convinced my hubby to start TTC, and my friend recommended adding prenatal vitamins to my daily diet. As I am not a fan of taking pills, what are you ladies' opinions on the importance of prenatal vitamins?

You don't necessarily have to take a prenatal vitamin. You could just take folic acid and vitamin D! I would recommend taking the vitamin though. It's very important when you do become pregnant, I've come to realize, Unless you eat a very well balanced diet

Yes. They are important for your growing baby. Helps stop things like spina bifida. You should start to take them before you're pregnant so it can build up in your system. You'll probably need the extra vitamins yourself too!
