I feel bbt is essential because honestly, you can get a positive opk and not actually ovulate. An opk only shows when your body produces a surge of LH in an attempt to ovulate but you can have a failed attempt. The bbt confirms that you have ovulated. What you can do if you find charting every day is too stressful is to skip charting during your period and then start taking your temps again about a week before you expect ov to establish a base pre-ov temp range. Then continue temping until you have confirmed ov by having 3 to 4 high temps and then stop temping again and try to forget everything until you know you can test, or have to start charting again.
