breastfeeding ??

Question

Right mums, I want to try breastfeeding with this little one, she's due in 5 weeks, some days it's what I want to do it 100% and others I don't want to! Have people found it easy or hard? I've got 7 year old twin girls too but I bottle fed them. I worry about how I'd feed her if we were all out in town together or if I was at a swimming lesson with the girls and the baby needed feeding, I know it's not as easy as just bottle feeding but I find so many reasons not to and so many reasons too Aswell! I'm in 2 minds xx

For me breastfeeding is so much easier than bottle feeding. With a bottle you have to prepare it and warm it. Breast is always ready to go. Now this is of course after you get the hang of it. In the beginning when baby is learning to latch it can be stressful and painful but once you both get the hang of it it's like nothing as far as nursing when you're out, if you feel uncomfortable just throw a thin blanket over to cover anything. I don't feel comfortable exposed even though some women do so I just carried a thin blanket to put over myself while he nursed.

I agree with the other comment, I've always found breastfeeding a lot easier than bottle feeding to be honest. It definitely does take some time to get a good system going and everything, but so easy and convenient once you do! I like to cover if I'm in public and it's quick and easy to do so with a cover or even a loose shirt. I was also able to breastfeed while wearing my baby in a wrap and that was so convenient and nice when out and about (especially if you're busy or caring for other kiddos).

If you are going to try breastfeeding, don't be discouraged quickly in the beginning. It hurts until your nipples heal and toughen up and baby can cluster feed or have a hard time getting a good latch, but trust me it is so worth it if you stick it out through the tough times! Good luck 😊

Tried breast feeding with my son but wasn't able to get a good latch and the lactation nurse at the hospital was no help whatsoever, even yelled at me! So I pumped my milk and fed him that through a bottle! Did that for about 3 months, then the pump went out lol. Defiantly going to try again this time

I've never breastfed before, but I'm going to try this time. I'm also going to pump and have bottles for when we go out. I was told It's best to start pumping 3-4 weeks into breast feeding. I keep my baby home for the first 6 weeks anyways so it won't be a big deal. I'm hoping it goes well, but if not I'm not gonna be upset if I have to switch to formula.

I'm planning on breastfeeding. But I don't plan on covering as I don't feel comfortable putting a blanket over my baby just so she can eat. Let people stare, I'm in the mind set that I don't care.

I breastfed last time and plan to do so again but would always use pumped milk in public or even with certain visitors over and I didn't feel comfortable getting my boobs out!

I really want to breastfeed as much as possible, but I'm silently freaking out about publicly breastfeeding.

I live in India, where certain men... Stare. A lot. And that's not even when I'm doing anything or wearing anything different; they just stare.

Since becoming pregnant, I have noticed some women breastfeeding in public with the help of a cover (which I have bought) but I'm still worried about whether I'm going to manage it or not.

So, I bought a manual pump, some bottle and a bottle bag, so that if we do go out, and I'm feeling a little self-concious, I or my husband can bottle feed without having to dodge stares (there is NO FREAKING WAY i am feeding in a bathroom here! HELL NO!). However, if we have a long journey somewhere (10 hour drive to Goa, anyone? D:) I will have to bite the bullet and breast feed in public, and just hope I can find somewhere fairly private so I don't get a crowd...

Sometimes I love India, and the whole baby thing is more convenient than back home; but a few things are way more difficult...
