Syncing menstrual cycles

So I now live with my boyfriend and his sister and I go to the same school used to be in the same class but anyways I misses my period for like a month got really bloated and than had my period, she recently told me she doesn't get them so often like maybe once every 2-3 months could this be causing a change in my cycle ?
