does the pain go away permanently?

I have Vaginismus as a result of sexual trauma and was diagnosed over a year ago. After a long time of emotional and mental healing I decided last month that it was time to heal physically. I bought dialators and they have been working, thankfully. But last week I missed a day or two and when I tried to use the size I have become accustomed to, it was extremely painful and I had to go back down one. It made me wonder, once I get through them all, do I need to continue dialating? Will the muscles go back to their original tightness if I ever stop, or if I am not sexually active? I want to fully heal but I don't want to be dialating for the rest of my life 😭
