Announcing marriage.

My husband and I had a courthouse "wedding". We didn't have money for a real one, we didn't have money for an engagement ring at the time so he didn't "propose". We haven't told anyone about it. We've been married for almost 7 months. How should we go about telling my parents and everyone else? My parents keep telling him to propose already and let's plan a wedding. It's been so hard not to tell them. We know they'll be happy but not sure how they'll react to not being told sooner. We are 25 and 23 so it's not like we ran away and did it.
