First time having sex since baby

Our son is 2 months old today, and this morning was the first time my husband and I have had sex since I was probably around 8 months pregnant. I was cleared by my OB at 6 weeks post C-section to resume normal activity, including sex, but with work schedules and a fussy baby going through a growth spurt, we haven't really had an opportunity until today. I was started on the progesterone only BC pill while I'm still trying to breastfeed, and I was told that the combination of those two things may cause more dryness than usual. We used a condom with lube plus extra condom-safe lube, but it still hurt for the first little bit, so we had to go super slow, and then I bled afterward. How long does that typically happen for a C-section mom? I was kind of surprised because I didn't even have pain or bleeding my very first time.
