Help my friend, school project on gifts for new mothers!

My friend and coworker is working on her senior project and needs to research the true needs and wants of new mothers. Her overall project is to design specialty gift boxes to be sent to expecting mothers either as shower gifts, as nursery gifts, and for the actual birth. She wanted to go beyond the obvious "cute newborn clothes" because people often get too many outfits that getboutgrown too quickly. Thanks for help and input!
