Whole milk before 1 year?!

Thinking about starting milk before a year my grandma had to stop nursing to go to work and gave both my mother and aunt whole milk at 3 months as sustenance! Also the nurse at my doctors office said she started her daughter on milk after stopping bf at 6 months any thoughts or how's it going for you?!

I think it's important you do your research on cows milk and other alternatives milk sources.

It's always been to my knowledge that it isn't recommended before 1 years old, but we started my son on almond milk at 9 months.

Cows milk is for baby cows.

We live in a wonderful age where you can find scientific evidence at the click of a button. Do research and don't listen to people who had children more than a few years ago. Research evolves daily.

Your grandmother probably didn't use a car seat for her children either. Would that be a good idea? No. When you know better you do better.

Formula or breastmilk before a year. They can't digest the proteins yet in cow's milk, it can cause allergies, and it can put your baby at risk for iron-deficiency anemia.

Why wouldn't you just switch to formula? This is definitely a question for your pediatrician. No one here can advise you on this safely.

Update    started at 9 months with ok from doctor! Just turned 1 on the 2nd and still nursing also!!!

Started my daughter on whole milk at 11 months. She's fine just don't give them too much it made my daughter gain weight very quickly

Just double check with your doctor. Our doctor ok'd cows milk for our first daughter since she turned 10 months because I couldn't keep up pumping anymore enough so slowly just topped up what I was pumping with cows milk (I started working two full time jobs and continuing to pump enough was impossible) I was devastated.

Do you mind if I ask why you want/need an alternative like cows milk?

This time with our second daughter my supply is much better and I plan to continue breast milk longer.
