potty training tips for boys?

I just found out we are expecting baby #2 and due date is the day before my sons birthday! 😮
I want to try to get my 15 month old boy potty trained before the new baby gets here in February. Any tips?

I have three little boys. My first two are 18 months apart.

My advice is not to push the issue. Introduce the potty, absolutely. Medically controlling their bowels and bladders is something that can happen on average between 18 & 24 months. Mentally it may take a bit longer. My first two potty trained between 2 and 2.5. I tried sooner and failed on an epic level.

Potty "training" to me is kind of a joke. You introduce the potty, you encourage the potty, reward the potty, they know what you want them to do, but they don't need training. When they are ready, they just do it. We did each kid in 1 weekend cold turkey no diapers and never had issues or accidents. If you push too soon it will take a long time and you will have accidents.

I had two kids in diapers for a year. No big deal, honestly. The first six months after potty training is way tougher because they give you very little notice before they need a bathroom, especially in public. That's so much more stressful.

Just because you are having another child doesn't mean you can push the milestones before he is ready to meet them. He deserves the opportunity to grow at his own pace, in all milestones. Hope it works out the way you want it to.

Not sure if this is a tip, but I have been having my son sit on the toilet (on his potty seat attachment) after I go ... He has his diaper and clothes on right now but he looks to sit on it each time... Then he gets down and helps my flush... He isn't comfortable sitting without his diaper yet , but he def has the routine down ... Hoping this is the first step , so I can move into taking off the diaper when I'm home in the summer. Good luck ! ... I'd love to hear tips too !!!

I have a 3 year old son and he was potty trained right at two. The way we got him interested in doing it is having him stand up to pee and aiming at something. He was potty trained Day and throughout the night in just a few days! Just a warning though. Potty training boys is messy 😂 who am I kidding he'll be 4 in September and he's still messy with it 😩
