question on background screening

I had a misdemeanor when I was 16.
I am 29 years old.
Must I always mention that when I apply for jobs? Just moved back home, which means in search of work WHICH I was able to find. Finger printing next week. I didn't mention it because I don't want something I did as a kid constantly have to be brought up.
I live in Michigan.
I'm not that person when I was 16.
Please any advice or opinions :)
