Eating dates=shorter labor?

So I've started doing some research on dealing with natural labor and all that comes with laboring naturally. And with that I have found many accounts of women who say eating 6 dates a day for the last four weeks of pregnancy helped them with a shorter labor.  Now, there is a medical study that was done to prove this is true, but I would love to hear accounts from any of you ladies that have done it, and if it worked for you or if it didn't.
Basically I just want some more data to have so I can really know if it would be beneficial to start eating them in a few weeks.
