Car seat new or used?

Hey there Im wanting to get opinions on car seats. My little one is due in 4 months and Im trying to decide should I buy her car seat new or one that's used and in good condition that's not expired? Any help would be great.

Never used. If it's been in an accident it isn't safe. Can you trust someone to tell you it hasn't been in an accident when they want to get rid of it and make money?

I would never buy a used one. You have no idea what it's been through (no matter what you're told) and they are one time use. If it's been in one accident, it may look fine but it won't protect your child as well as it should. This is something meant to save your child's life in an accident. I wouldn't take any risks. And all have to meet the same safety standards so you can get the most inexpensive one you can find.

Never buy a used car seat. You don't know if it's been in a car accident. If a car seat been in a accident it needs to be replaced. You don't know the damage of the inside of the seat.

I have been "gifted" used car seats. But those who gave them to me have explicitly stated that they are to be used for trading in to get a discount on a new seat. I wouldn't put my baby in any of these used seats.

The only way i would ever Under any circumstances use a used car seat is if a) i knew the person giving it really well (family or very close friend) and b) if i was 100% certain it had never been in a accident honestly i would go new my fiance's sister tried buying a used car seat from china for me to use super glad customs didnt allow it into canada but i never would have used it anyway

If someone is giving you a perfectly good seat I.e. Sister I'd say yes... but if you have to buy it I'd go for a new one

A car seat is not something I would chance. Even if it's not expired But has been in an accident it is no good. There are several things I plan to try and pick up second hand but I will not compromise on a car seat.
