EpiPen vs Generic

Has anyone used the generic version of the EpiPen Jr? My DS was diagnosed with a severe peanut allergy today and was prescribed the EpiPen Jr at $500. The father says he's found a generic at CVS Pharmacy for $10-yes, $10 and is wanting to purchase it instead of paying for half of the EpiPen Jr. Before I buy the expensive one myself and let him buy the cheaper one I thought I'd ask the Glow Mommas.
