Is dying your hair safe during pregnancy?

I've heard so many mixed things about dying your hair during pregnancy and I was wanting to know is it safe or not?

Hey Tara! My best friend is in cosmetology school and I had the same question for her, she asked her professors and they said ammonia-free dye is perfectly safe!! Although they don't advise dying while pregnant just because our hormones don't respond the way they usually do and it can cause your hair to keep from holding the color of the dye. She said if we tried it, it could result in patchy colors, each time you do it. Im tempted to try but am terrified of looking like a leopard lol. Just use a good brand, something like Aveda that is 96% naturally derived! Better for your hair anyways. :) And best to do it in a salon or very open space that's well ventilated. I'm a hairstylist and am currently pregnant as well, I've colored my hair quite a few times now while pregnant. :)

I dyed my hair using one of those store bought boxes that I believe was amonia free because it didn't have a smell. I did not bleach it it was just going to a darker shade of brown so I didn't need to.

It's fine as long as you're in a well ventilated location. I've been regularly dyeing throughout my pregnancy just like I was before.
