pierced nipples and breastfeeding?

Will having my nipples pierced affect breastfeeding. I've heard that it can cause blockage and I will not be able to breast feed. Is this true?

No it doesnt effect it at all. Ive had mine pierced for some years now and i recently had my baby in February of this year and EBF and we have had 0 problems with the holes (whichare still open) i kept them in all the way up until delivery and i put them in every few weeks to make sure my holes don't close ever since but i dont leave them in since its recommended babys eat every 2-3 hours i would just do a slip through and they dont get clogged or anything. I eouldnt stress it love

I had both my nipples pierced, and took them out around 20 weeks, and I breastfeed my baby just fine, a little comes out but nothing major.

My daughter couldn't latch on my left nipple because of the milk coming out my piercing holes too quick and it would break her latch and make it so she couldn't get a proper suction on that breast. Completely ruined my breastfeeding experience ☹️ I got completely engorged and had mastitis in both breast. Everyone is different though! It could be completely different for you!! Just wanted to give you my experience.

My piercer told me that if I got it done, I would need to allow them 10 months to heal before I could breastfeed. Because I was already trying to have a baby I opted out of getting it done for that reason. So I guess the sooner you take them out the better.
