School marriages.

Emily

My five year old cousin who I take to school every morning told me this morning she is going to be marrying a little girl named Evelyn today. She asked me to cut her hair like a boy to make her handsome for the wedding. I told her I'd talk to her mommy about that but I was all for her going to school and marrying Evelyn.

Well my grandmother over heard our conversation and she freaked right out. She called the school stop the "wedding" (the school did not, they encouraged it with buying flowers for them to hold) and told my cousin it's disgusting that she's a girl and shouldnt marry a girl. My grandfather over heard that Olivia wants her hair cut like a boy, he got down to eye level with her and told her "NO your not your not a boy your a girl".

I started to become very mad! Even 9 hours later I'm still angry at them! Here's why! ::

-Just because she is pretending to marry a girl at school, DOES NOT mean she is a lesbian

-IF she grows up and does tell us all she is a lesbian she needs acceptance, not people making her feel it's wrong.

-SHE IS FIVE. They are playing, it is fake.

I told my grandparents that they need to accept what could be. Olivia's always said she loves girls, and boys are yucky. She's always wanted her hair cut short like a boy. She wears boys clothing. It doesn't mean she's a lesbian, it could mean so many things like, she wants to be different then her sister, she is a Tom boy (calling her a Tom boy really rattles my grandparents cages too), she is more comfortable in boys clothes, OR she is a lesbian, WHICH DOESN'T F'ING MATTER!

I love her and her sister. Heres a few pictures of them this morning, and the home made ring made by Olivia for Evelyn. Olivia is wearing the glasses and boy clothes! Emma (her twin) was going to be the "Reverend" and ask Evelyn and Olivia to say I do.

She was so excited to get married. I went along with it, asking if she was excited, nervous, happy! Told her no kissing Evelyn and if she wants to only on the hands because God forbid my grandparents find out my aunt got a call because she was kissing another girl. I told her congratulations and even went and bought her a gift for her wedding.

But seriously how cute are they! Loves them!
