1 baby vs 2 babies?!

Question

My husband and I have a daughter and have recently started weighing the pros and cons of having another child at some point. I was hoping to get some other opinions from other moms who are mothers of only children or multiple children, or were an only child/had siblings themselves! All opinions are appreciated! Thanks 😊

As a former teacher, I can pretty easily pick out kids who are an only child, and it's usually not in a good way. Two or more is ideal. They learn how to deal with conflict, communication, and competition when they have siblings, all of which are so important in order to be successful in today's working world. Obviously if you can't have more than one that's fine, but it'll be a little tougher to teach those lessons without siblings.

I've got three younger brothers. They're annoying as hell but they're awesome! I love them to pieces. Now that they're getting older they are really great to talk to as well- we're becoming more like friends. Growing up I always had someone to play with. You couldn't really be lonely in my house because someone was always around. My brothers have always stood up for me (even from a really young age- one sibling once came after this girl that was picking on me on the playground. He was 4 and I was 6 as was the girl. He chased her around the playground with 'cooties' and making dinosaur sounds). They're always there for me when I need them too. They're automatic in best friends. I can't imagine being an only child. I think it'd be so lonely to be the only kid in a house all the time.

One thing my mum always says now that she's going through it with her siblings is that when your parents need care/die you have your siblings. They're there and will support and help you through that. I know my mum has really needed her siblings (as they needed her) over the last few years as my grandparents have gotten increasingly worse.

I grew up with a sister exactly 2 years younger than me (she was born on my second bday) and I loved every minute of it. My husband was an only child and he doesn't understand the bond I have with my sister. When we started having kids I told my husband I wanted at least 2 so that they wouldn't grow up alone. I just delivered our second last week. I would definitely recommend at least 2 so they can have that special sibling bond.

I have 2 girls. One almost 3 and the other turned 1 yesterday.  I was wishy washy about it for a while but seeing them interact makes it all worth it. I have a sister and shes my best friend.

I'm a middle child, I have a sister who is older by three years and a sister younger by 10. I loved growing up with my big sister, she was and still is my best friend. With a younger sister and that big of an age gap, we aren't as close but I do care about her just as much. I think it's really nice to have siblings 💕

I'm currently pregnant and struggling with the idea of another right now because I was diagnosed with hyperemises gravidarum and it's hell. I'm so sick all the time and miserable, I can't imagine going through this again. Knowing me though, I'll do it again because I'm crazy and forget how terrible things can be 😂

I grew up in a family with 4 children. My older sister and I have 3 years between us, my younger sister is 6 years younger than me, and the youngest is 3 years younger than her. I absolutely adore having so many siblings! I call them my built in best friends and I couldn't imagine life without them. Yes we had our arguments as children, but we also had a lot of fun playing together. Now that we're all grown it is even better because stupid things like drama over friends while in high school together or arguing about taking one another's clothes doesn't happen. ☺

My parents had me then 10 months later had my brother. When I was 11 our sister was born, and when I was 24 my dad and his ex girlfriend had a baby. Being so close in age to my brother was awesome growing up. We were best friends. Having a little sister when I was 11 was amazing because I always wanted a sister. Dad's newest was a shocker to everyone but she's amazing too. If I hadn't miscarried, I'd have a kiddo about a year younger than her. It's been bittersweet. A reminder of what should have been, but also eye opening in a lot of ways. I should mention there's only an 18 year age difference between my dad and I. He'll turn 45 two days before I turn 27.

I have 4, ages 13, 9, 3 and 2 it's challenging but I love it. My two youngest are both boys and they get along so great 99% of the time. My oldest is like a little mother and they love her so much and my oldest boy (9) is so patient with the little ones. I love watching them play together.
