more than just baby acne??

This "acne" is out of control. All over his face, now on his chest and some on his arms. I don't get it. It gets worse when feeding him..very red. What's normal acne and what's not? I'm convinced it's more than just acne. 😢😢

Try washing his face with warm water and pitting breast milk on it. My son's looks the same and is on the side and back of his head. When they get warm or cry it will look worse but if you're really concerned contact his ped and ask about it.

This looks like how my niece's face looked. The doctor said it was baby acne and would resolve once my SIL's hormones got under control. My niece is now a little over a year old and hasn't had acne for months.

Maybe part of it is an allergic reaction to some of the things you eat that is being transferred through breastfeeding? (If you are breastfeeding, that is.) My son has baby acne and eczema. The eczema is more raised and can be flaky. To keep it under control, my pediatrician recommended a 1% cortisone cream sparingly (I use Aveeno) and Aveeno's eczema moisturizer. That has been working for us and his face looks much better! But definitely reach out to your pediatrician and ask!

I feel like his forehead is looking better..but cheeks and chin are getting worse :( we haven't done anything besides warm water and cloth a few times a day.

Here is a pic of my baby girl at 3 weeks. Her acne started around the 1st week and it made us so concerned and sad. It was hard to look at cause it looked painful but it didn't bother her one bit. Dr said it was just baby acne and only time would heal it. I didn't believe her because it just seemed so bad. It got worse every day and spread to her chest. I scoured the internet for remedies, tried breastmilk, tried eliminating dairy, tried washing her face with warm water. Those didn't work. I didn't try coconut oil or some people even used vinegar, as I was scared it might cause more trauma to her skin.

Finally when she turned 5 weeks it started to get better. Now she still has some but it's so minor. Time really is what my baby needed. I know how hard it can be to see on your precious one.

If it doesn't clear up with breast milk it's more than baby acne. It could be a reaction to your breast milk which would mean you'd need to cut out dairy and soy as those are normally the issues.

From my friend who's pediatrician said it was baby acne. She ended up getting a new pediatrician who told her it wasn't just baby acne and is taking the issue more seriously.

"That's exactly what my previous ped said. I tried to eliminate as much diary as I could. We supplement with soy formula and it helps. Hydrocortisone cream is what helps relieve his breakouts. Other than that keeping the skin hydrated. I use baby Aveeno because coconut oil wasn't working for him."

It may be your detergent on your clothes. He is breast fed so he comes in contact with your clothing. The detergent you use may be too harsh for his skin. You could try using the same laundry detergent as his. Just a suggestion though I am not completely sure that's why he has a rash. Ask at your next check up. Hope it gets better!
