infection and now sharp abdominal pains

Hi ladies... need some advice please. I had an infection 2 Weeks ago and was hospitalized for only 2 days... I'm 14 weeks pregnant and this past week I had a dark brown discharge and went to my gynae who said that the infection was back but this time at my womb. He recommended metrogel which I have used twice already however since 2 am this no iv been getting these real sharp pains... in not sure if it's contractions or gas pain... it's been on and off since for every 5-10 minutes... has anyone else experienced this.. this is my first pregnancy so I don't want to panic over everything... but at the same time I'm not sure what's normal and what's not... please can anyone advise if you experienced anything similar and what did you do?
