How old is old enough to take baby to the beach?

We wna take our lil guy to the beach for the first time (we live in Florida) ☀️🌊

He's 10 weeks old but he's a big strong guy. I'm already prepared for the basics like sunscreen, keeping the sun off of him, keeping him cool, baby powder to get the sand off, etc..

Probably not going to get him in the water. Maybe just let him touch it with his lil fat legs ☺️ He doesn't even have a swimming suit yet nor the lil swimmers diapers.

My parents took me to the beach as a two week old and I lived.

No sunscreen, just keep him out of the sun with a hat and an umbrella. The chemicals in the sunscreen are too harsh for baby skin until at least 6 months. But if you keep him in the shade, cool, and hydrated, I think he's fine to go now.

My pediatrician told us they dont like seeing children get to much sun before 1 year. It is because their skin is still so thin.

Most sun screens for baby's say they must be at least 6 months of age. I haven't found one baby sun screen for under 6 months. As long as the baby has a hat on an you have him covered with an umbrella or something he should be fine but I wouldn't have him out in the sun too long.

He's your baby. Take him when you feel you're all ready for it.

I say he's old enough and big enough now. If you feel comfortable go for it.

I think as long as he has on a ton of sunscreen, and other sun protection like a hat and clothes (nothing too warm obviously), or even an umbrella for him to sit under, I think he should be fine! Make sure he stays hydrated and don't stay out too-too long.

Like others said sunscreen is recomended for over 6 months, I recomend a sun hat, and there are bathing suits with shorts and short that provide UV protectant, I used cloth/ reusable swim diapers ( just my preference. But my favorite thing was a little pop up beach tent that provides shade and a cool little area for baby( like pictured)  ( I brought my son to the beach at 4 month which is how old he was when it opened so I didn't really wait to take him)
