Do you check your own cervix?

I had fertility issues to conceive this baby so I learned how to check my cervix to help determine fertile days. Now that I'm in the final weeks of pregnancy, I've started checking my cervix again to tell dilation / effacement. I figure I'd like to know what my body is doing and not have to wait for the doctor to check. Of course I'm not as experienced as my doctor at knowing what I'm feeling, but there's no harm in learning. Obviously use clean technique. Does anyone else check their cervix?
