Our 1st Ultrasound
Today was our first ultrasound. I am 9 weeks 4 days and the baby is measuring right on track with a heart rate of 180. It was wiggling around on the ultrasound which was so neat to see! What was supposed to be a happy memory has turned into one of anxiety and stress. During the ultrasound they stated the baby had a bulge coming from its abdomen which could be the normal development of the intestines but my midwife wants me to have another u/s done at the hospital to have it checked again. That ultrasound will be in 5 days. Of course I looked it up online and it does appear that this is a normal stage in development but I'm also reading that it's typically resolved by 12 weeks. So I'm sure that there really won't be that much of a change in 5 days as I'll be just over 10 weeks but my midwife said I should have this ultrasound done sooner rather then later and that she wouldn't recommend waiting another 2-3 weeks until I'm further along. Which worries me that she thinks there might be a problem. I just pray that the baby develops as it's supposed to and that it turns out to be ok. Has anyone else experienced this where they were sent for another ultrasound or had the bulge show on an ultrasound that ended up going away as the baby developed? If you were sent for another ultrasound to examine the bulge what's different about it then a regular ultrasound? (The bulge I'm talking about is on the top left side of the baby in the ultrasound picture.)
