why doesn't he see this

My bf has worked for his parents ever since we dated (5 years). We are in college and I suggested he get a part time job not working for them. His parents pay him double what he should, gets to pick his schedule etc it's just not realistic in my opinion. I think they are trying to have him take over and he doesn't want to work there. The business is in the middle of nowhere and all he ever talks about is how he can't wait to be in a city and move away. Clearly then he can't work for them. He wants to be an FBI agent and live in the city. I suggested he find somewhere that he can intern/work this summer so he understands what it's like to have a boss, or work with people who aren't nice to you since his parents own it. I said this in a nice way and he flipped out. He's 21 doesn't have a resume, never had a job interview etc. these are skills he should learn now. I even said apply and interview just for practice you can always say sorry no it won't work. Am I wrong? I dropped the subject but it just irritates me so much. Advice? It just seems crazy to me especially when this job is not anything he wants to do as a future career.

It's not he's not working at all who cares if it's for his parents they are setting him up with a business so he will have a job to rely on for income that a great .I wouldn't leave either if I where him .

I think you're crazy trying to force your man out of an opportunity that could be very beneficial to his life. Not to say that he can't be an FBI agent still but trying to force him into a job that pays less where he has a boss that's not his parents just because its "more realistic " is stupid actually lol. He's still getting work experience because he's working a job.

Him being with them is job security. He never has to worry about them firing him. They protect him. It's safe it's comfortable. Which is why he doesn't feel the need to step out of his comfort zone. If he truly wants to do FBI he's gotta do criminology as his program. He's going to need at least security under his belt as experience. Maybe some banking as well. My brother is secret service it's a year long process to get in. He worked mall security they told him he didn't have enough and told him he needed banking experience. He worked at Meryl Lynch monitoring the million dollar credit accounts a friend opened that door. He got so good at detecting fraud and counterfeit that became his specialty. You have to take the test and score 80 or above. The entire process you feel you didn't make it. They do a background check all the way back to the hospital you were born. Neighbors etc. Home visit. We get background checks every 3 years and check with our neighbors too. An 8 hour lie detector test. In front of a panel of people. The first questions they ask are have you ever done drugs and have you ever lied to your mother. From have you ever stollen a pencil, you name it. The training academy where you practice beating each other up a ton of running even with snakes etc around you in Florida.They prefer  police or military experience. If he has no experience he's at the bottom of the list. He needs minimum a bachelor degree. My brother got in at 23 youngest agent ever accepted. 7 more years and he can retire after 25 years in. If that's his dream he's going to have to gain experience. Banking, finance, security, police or military. Even if he's an analyst with computers he still has to go through the process, if he has to go out I. The field he's going to have to know how to shoot a gun and handle the situation.
