What comes first: Marriage or Children?

So many of my friends are having children before getting married. Maybe I missed something but I want to enjoy marriage and my partner before adding another level of responsibility to our relationship. I've noticed that not everyone agrees with that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - absolutely. So what is yours?

I know too many people that refuse to get married because "it's just a paper" and we love each other and they have kids. At least 3 of those people have the mans mail go to his mothers house and she is collecting welfare and other benefits as a single mother. I think there are some people who just don't want to marry but it makes me sick there are people who refuse to marry just to play the system.

I think some ppl fail to realize that the first years of being married are crucial. It's important to have that you time with your significant. Having a baby before that or in the very beginning of marriage may effect you in the long hall. When will you ever have you time again if you don't wait? You gottah enjoy the 'honeymoon stage'

I agree with your view but not all see it that way. I feel like if you can make the committment of bringing a child into this world together why can't you make the committment to create a home together for that child first? To each their own though I suppose...

I think many people ideally want that but sometimes it doesn't pan out that way. Doesn't mean they don't have commitment or don't want to get married. Not everything happens in order.

Not everyone wants to get married. We don't and aren't but loved together for 6 years but we got pregnant.

I genuinely hope you can enjoy your marriage before you have kids, but what does it matter if other people choose to have kids before they're married?

Ideally for me it would have been stable relationship then children, not necessarily marriage first. I had a child before I was married with someone other than the guy I married.

Whichever. The only problem I've ever had with it was when one girl said she and her bf were TTC but not getting married because they weren't "ready for that yet". That didn't make sense to me. But I think the two go hand in hand, but the order it happens isn't really all that important.

My parents have been married for 30 years my mom was pregnant at her wedding they were married at 19...so I think you can still have a successful marriage
