Sleeping on back???

Question

I'm 14w+2 and I wake up to find myself on my back ALL the time. I usually sleep on my side and think I do most of the night. What should I do?

I'm struggling with this so bad. When ever I sleep on my sides I get pins and needles all through my hips and thighs.. so my body automatically flips me to my back!

At yr stage i was always waking up on my back and it really worried me. But once i hit around 18 weeks i noticed that when lay on back when reading in bed id feel a bit breathless and uncomfortable and odd like my lungs couldnt expand enough. From that time i stopped waking up on my back.. I think our bodies know what to do and what is best when we are asleep, im pretty sure my sis said she was the same with all 4 of hers. So perhaps have more trust that yr body will figure out the best way to lie when you nod off? X

Sleeping on the back is usually something you need to start really being proactive with around 16-18 weeks. The reasoning is the weight of the uterus can constrict blood flow. Personally I have found lately that if i sleep on my back I get a little light headed, plus its usually more comfortable to sleep on the side now anyways. Don't worry too much at the stage

Try one of those long pregnancy pillows. Wrap your legs around it so you stay there!

Generally they say not to sleep on your back once you're in the second trimester. If you're really worried about it,  It might help to put a pillow behind your back to keep you from rolling over .
