Why is cheating so bad?

Before you answer, I think it's horrible.

BUT, I want to know what you think MAKES it so horrible.

If it's just the trust factor, then why don't we just say "ah go ahead and sleep with anyone as long as you tell me first."

If it's the fact that your partner is sharing his/her body with another person that isn't you, then why wouldn't you get upset that they had done so with another person BEFORE dating you? Like why doesn't THAT knowledge hurt for some of you, but for some reason, if your partner has sex with someone else at the SAME TIME as dating you, that does hurt?

The trust, the risk of spreading STDs to an unsuspecting partner, the fact that I like monogamy in my relationship, the concern of him falling in love with someone else and leaving the kids and I behind, breaking my vows...

It's everything. Anyone who has been cheated on knows the multitude of feelings that you have after. Wondering if you are enough. Wondering if you messed up. Wondering if she's better looking, more fun, better in bed... it brings out every insecurity you have as a human being. Let's face t, between my demanding career, my husbands demanding career, and our three perfect children, any extra time we have should be spent together growing in love. There is such precious time. To know he'd rather spend that precious time sleeping around... the hurt that would cause. It's not just one thing. It's 100 things at once that would cause this to hurt and destroy a decade of love. It's just not worth it

For me it's that sex is a very intimate thing that should only be shared with the person u are dating or married to not just for fun. As someone who has been cheated on recently I find it's also the truth factor, it makes u feel unworthy of them, like something is wrong with u because they had to have sex with someone else and did the same thing u guys do as partners. It makes ur whole relationship feel fake and all the things/feelings u shared wernt actually true

It's an intimate thing but the reasoning is the worst part. What if they cheated cuz they don't love you anymore, because you're ugly to them?, because they were just mad, because they got bored of you. Some dumbass reason like that can ruin your confidence. There's no excuse for cheating but there could be a reasoning that would be forgivable imo

For me, it would be the fact that he committed to me, to keep himself for me only during the bounds of our relationship, to protect my heart and mind and body, to love me and only me, pleasure me and only me. If he were to cheat, he would be breaking all that. Not to mention, the numerous self-esteem issues it would cause (why am I not good enough, why doesn't he love me anymore, what did I do wrong, etc.) as well as the risk of getting someone else pregnant or getting an STD that I could get. There would be broken trust, broken hearts.

Because what's the point in being in a relationship if your gonna fuck other people? I mean if the other person is giving their time and loyalty you should too! It's a two way thing! (Or more depending on the relationship). Don't waste other people's time. Plus the person you might be fucking may have a std or something and you may pass it onto the person your in a "relationship" with.
