My son only uses me to feed

My son won't let me simply carry him if I'm holding him he immediately begins rooting and crying horribly if I dont give him my breast. I can feed him for 40 mins and he'll remove himself and dooze off but as soon as he realizes I'm holding him or I try to better position him and he wakes up he's back to rooting and I hand him off to my dad or my husband and he immediately stops rooting and knocks out. He's a week and a half and he wasn't like this the first few days but now I can't hold him at all unless him giving him boob

Has anyone else experienced this?

How do I fix this?
