Am I doing something wrong?

This is the third time in the past two days that my 1 week old boy has peed outside of his diaper! We have been using Huggies. Is this a brand thing or am I not putting his diaper on right? What are your experiences with this?

My baby boy peed thru his Huggies SIX times in one day, we pointed his thing down, made them tighter and nothing worked he kept peeing thru them so we switched to Pampers and he hasn't peed thru them once since! Huggies suck!

We had that happen with my son, too, and we're using Pampers Swaddlers. For us, the main reasons were 1) the Vaseline we were using for his circumcision was preventing absorption of the urine into the diaper (pee leaks decreased substantially once that healed and we didn't need to use Vaseline anymore), 2) the newborn diapers were a bit big on him, so there was room out the top of them (he's now 6 weeks and they're only just starting to be too snug), and 3) when his penis is pointed up, towards the bellybutton opening, there's a higher likelihood he'll just pee out of them. We make sure to point his penis down when we put on a new diaper and make the top of the diaper as snug as possible. It seemed like sometimes leaks were also coming out of the leg holes, but I had no solution to that until his legs got a little chunkier... Sorry that's happening to you! My husband and I resigned ourselves to the fact that everything was going to get peed on, and just laughed about it when it happened :).

Make sure the penis is pointing down.  The one time my son did that, his daddy changed him & forgot to make sure it was down. However I will say I found Huggies to be a little bigger than Pampers so we waited to use Huggies until he gained some weight. We use both now and even Luvs and really no problems so far with any. Except to me Pampers have a weird smell sometimes if he pees a lot.

Am I doing something wrong?
