CM question

When do you check your CM? Do you check it just once a day? Is how much CM you have a big factor? 
I just checked my CM, and it was EWCM, it wasn't a whole lot, but I was able to stretch it about two inches. My Cervix is low and open. Does this mean I should be ovulating soon?
