Gall Bladder Removal After Birth?

Question

Has anyone had to have their gall bladder removed after birth? I spent the last few days in the hospital for gall stones/gall bladder attack. The doctors ultimately decided to wait until after I give birth to remove my gall bladder but I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with that situation. It makes me nervous to have surgery with a new born. :( I should also mention I am almost 38 weeks.

I had mine removed when my baby was 2 months old it was the little 5 incision surgery not the big open one. Yes it sill hurt but i was back to doing things within a week :)

I did. Its not so bad as long as you have someone at home to help you for the first week. It took a second week to feel completely normal but after about 4 days to a week I was up doing stuff without being in pain. And it's amazing to not have to deal with fall bladder attacks and stones. I was in the hospital once a week until I got it removed.

I had my gall bladder removal surgery this week.. My little one turned 2 months last week.. I had few episodes of unbearable pain, not being able to sit or stand, vomitting and nausea, during pregnancy and after delivery. My obgyn suggested it could be gall bladder stones.. However everytime the pain subsided I decided to delay it till the baby grows a little bigger, until one stone escaped and the gall bladder and blocked the pancreatic duct. i swear that ain is 500x worse than gall bladder attack itself.. My suggestion is if the pain is unbearable, it could be and indication that you need to get it done asap.

They can't remove your gal bladder this late in pregnancy.
I had mine removed 5 wks after my 3rd child's birth.
