Ombré Hair Extensions?!? Help!

Hey guys! I have collar bone length brown hair and I really want to get the long ombré look for the summer... without waiting for my hair to grow and damage it by bleaching. Has anyone used hair extensions to achieve this? Who would I go to and what would I have to buy? What is the best method? How much does it cost? How long will they last and what does it require to upkeep?
