Hi in your guys' own words can someone explain what it means when society acts in a way that is heteronormative or heterosexist. I would like to hear what everyone thinks about this. I have done some research but would like to hear other people's views. Any comments are appreciated. Thank you!!!

Heteronormative is when society assumes that everyone are heterosexual. Like for example; many schools only teach hetero relationships in sex Ed, this is assuming everyone are heterosexual.

Heteronormative is a mindset that assumes everything is heterosexual. It's extremely common in heterosexuals, but i find myself slipping into it myself sometimes.

Heterosexual is the exceptional attraction to the opposite gender and sex.

Basically the assumption that everyone is straight. Marking, sex ed, rape education and prevention, school rules on pda, conversion therapy, straight as the "default" sexuality, straight sex on tv when even hand holding in a gay relationship is taboo, the assumption that LGBT+ are less than heterosexuals, extremely and unnecessarily gendered products for adults and children 
All of that contributes to heteronormativity and it's pretty disgusting.
