Hcg linked to downs??

I'm 37 and this will be my first baby. I'm currently 8 weeks and 2 days. We saw the midwife yesterday who was lovely! She did keep mentioning my age and downs syndrome and suggested a private harmony test. I'm just wondering if her concern was my hcg level. It was high at 38000 at exactly 6 weeks. Anyone know if high hcg is linked to downs babies please?

No has nothing to do with it! Probably your age is what her prompt her to suggest that

Has nothing to do with your hcg levels at all. It's to do with your age. Very young girls having babies and women over 35 particularly over 40 have higher risk of having a child with a chromosomal issue such as trisomy 18/down syndrome.
I've had a child at 36 and now just turned 39 with my 6th child....so i was offered the panorama testing with both...i had no testing with my 1-4 children as i was 19-28 having them😉💖

No hun. I turned 40 in may and carrying twins. 
My midwife and doc kept mentioning ds until I done the harmony test and nt test.  
That's a beautiful hcg level btw

Do you find out more about your hormone levels during your pregnancy? I was told yesterday that it is connected to DS probability. Based on a double screening. I also had a high hCG result and was offered a £350 Safe Test or free CVS to be certain.

My HCG is through the roof for both of my twin pregnancies. It's only related in very late stage pregnancy from any studies I've seen. It should peak at 10 weeks or so then come down a little. Every body & pregnancy is really so different, though.
