What do you do?

What do you do when you're in a group setting and there's a moment of prayer? Do you bow your head or no? What do you do if you are asked to pray? I'm just wondering because I have to deal with it 6 times a day at school and never know what to do.

I usually just bow my head in respect really, but if I'm asked to say a prayer I just politely say I don't know any 🐝

I don't do anything when there is a moment of prayer. I tend to just be the only one looking up and not engaged. If someone asked me I would just say "no thank you"

I thankfully don't experience this issue much anymore, but I tend to bow my head and take a quiet moment to myself. Maybe I'll ponder about what to eat for lunch, or make a mental note to call a friend... 😬 I've never been asked, but I guess I'd say something along the lines of "the good health of my friends and family" because that's something I hope for anyway.

For moments of silence I simply bow my head. If asked to pray, I say I'm an atheist/not religious and think it would be disrespectful for me to partake in something I don't believe in and have no feelings towards.

If it's one of my families events, I bow my head, hold hands (if requested) & silently wait for the prayer to end, out of love & respect. If it's any other situation, I refuse to touch a strangers hand.. grosse. I just look down & wait for it to be over. I haven't been asked to pray w/ anyone since I was a child. If that request came up I'd simply be honest w/ them & tell them I'm not religious, so I can't help them w/ that.

they shouldn't be asking you to pray at school. if you go to Catholic school or something like that it might be normal but not in public school. they cannot ask you to pray. if they want to pray on their own they can absolutely. but it's technically illegal for them to ask you or try to lead you in prayer. and to answer your question, if I'm in a group praying about something in public or at a family function, I literally just don't. most won't notice you haven't bowed your head or closed your eyes because they're all bowing their heads and closing their eyes. if they do notice, they're only calling you out to purposely single you out in the group to discriminate you. you can tell em to fuck off.

Hey there! I go to a catholic school and we pray 2 times a day. Personally I do pray with my class but if you don't want to do it you just keep quiet and be respectful, if your school doesn't know that you are an atheist and you don't want them to know, I guess you just have to do it, sorry, but if your school is accepting of other beliefs in your school, then you can tell them so that they don't make you say the prayer
